Our Photography 101 workshop with brand and wedding photographer Alycia Lovell (now Alycia Jasmine Massey) offered a simple, practical introduction to taking better photos for your business. Alycia walked attendees through the basics of understanding light, building consistency, and making small adjustments that can improve everything from product photos to everyday social content. Her approach was approachable and clear, giving everyone (whether they brought a DSLR or their phone) easy tools they could put to use right away.

Held in the bright back room of dept.z salon, the workshop gave us plenty of natural light to practice in. Participants tested different angles, experimented with composition, and tried out Alycia’s quick editing tips on their own cameras. The atmosphere stayed relaxed, hands-on, and focused on helping business owners feel more comfortable showing up visually online.

After wrapping up the session, a group continued the evening over dinner, sharing what they learned and swapping ideas for how to bring these new skills into their brands. It was a simple, useful workshop that gave everyone a clearer understanding of how to improve their digital presence with tools they already have.
